General survey on Chinese silk goods exports and imports from January to May, 2005

According to the statistics from the Custom, China silk goods exports and imports from January to May this year reached US$3.3 billion and US$0.887 billion respectively. The values rose by 19.63 per cent and 0.61 per cent respectively. Among them, real silk goods exports totaled US$1.438 billion and rose by 22.8per cent. Chemical silk fabric exports totaled US$1.861 billion and rose by 17.28 per cent.
Mulberry silk goods exports have shown upward trend in volume and average price and reached 11186.2 ton in volume, US$0.211 billion in value and US$ 18.87 in price. The volume, value and average price rose by 8.76 per cent, 22.39 per cent and 12.53 per cent respectively. The top 5 export destinations are India, Italy, Japan, Korea and Hongkong.
