According to the reports provided by cocoon inspection authorities, quality of Spring Cocoons of Huzhou City in Zhejiang Province is considerably better than last year.
Huzhou Zhongwei Cocoon& Silk Trading Co., Ltd. entrusted Zhejiang No.3 Cocoon Inspection Bureau to inspect sampled cocoons numbered in code from 77lots after the spring harvest. Test results provided on July 18 show that the spring cocoon quality is improved: Average reelable percentage is 83.34 per cent and rises by 4.85 per cent; Average non-breaking length of bave is 782 meters and more than 101.8 meters than last spring; Average unwinding ratio is 71.7 per cent and rises by 9.45 per cent; Average cleanness and neatness are 98.94 and 94.82 and up from 98.67 and 94.64 respectively. Such test data reflects the overall quality 0.2226 thousand kilograms of dried cocoons harvested this spring.
Experts analyze that improved cocoon quality should owe to good silkworm seeds, abundant mulberry leaves and fine weather during mounting period other than scientific seeding techniques.
