China's textile industry is expanding in a fast pace despite restrictions. China's textile industry realized a total industrial output value of 891.6 billion yuan (US$109.9 billion) in the first half of 2005, a 26.5 per cent year-on-year growth.
The growth rate was 0.5 percentage point higher than that of the corresponding period last year, according to statistics released by the State Development and Reform Commission.
Meanwhile, the sales-production ratio of the industry reached 96.63 per cent in the six months, up 0.59 percentage point year-on-year.
In June, the industry saw a rapid growth in output.
Statistics showed that in the Jan-June period, yarn output reached 6.303 million tons, up 23 per cent year-on-year, with the output in June amounting to 1.236 million tons, up 23.2 per cent; the output of chemical fiber and garments reached 7.375 million tons and 6.37 billion units respectively, up 8 per cent and 18.4 per cent, with the June output of the two increasing 11.2 per cent and 19.6 per cent respectively.
