ReturnTongxiang arranges mid-autumn cocoon production

While preparing for a new autumn harvest this year, Tongxiang mid-autumn production meeting was hosted by Tongxiang Agricultural Economy Bureau and participated by sericulture management stations and relative persons on Aug. 18. Tongxiang was an important cocoon production area located in Zhejiang province.
The meeting aimed at look back the situation of spring and summer cocoon production and take several measures to arrange mid-autumn cocoon production.
Data indicated that seed-distributing volume, average piece output, total cocoon output, purchasing volume and farmers’ income from selling cocoons all hiked during spring cocoon production. However, summer cocoon seed distributing volume and summer cocoon output dropped slightly as a result of prolonged high temperature and drought that was uncommon in the history.
The meeting predicted that 1. farmers would inevitably exhibit great enthusiasm for breeding autumn silkworms stimulated by raised income from selling cocoons; 2. forward trend of cocoon and silk prices still continued; 3. Mulberry trees growth looked just fine.
The Tongxiang government would continue to carry out a series of effective measures including materials andtechnologyto support the autumn cocoon production.
