At 10am of Sept. 16 in Shanglin County of Guangxi Autonomous Region, Sierton Silk Reeling Co., Ltd. began to put into operation with the celebrating sounds of firecrackers. The company with eight sets of auto reeling machines and its investment value of two thousand yuan is the second to invest in Guangxi by Tongxiang Kaidisi Silk Co. Zhou Shaoying, general manager of Sierton conmany said that Tongxiang silk sector shook hands with the west for the purpose of responding to the national policy of Sericulture from East to West as well as deepening its development space and enhancing its market presence.
Silk sector lists as Tongxiang’s main traditional industry with 17 scale silk reeling millers and annual production output of nearly 7 billion yuan. From 2000, Tongxiang government began to design the strategy of participating into the west and then prepared four years to carry out going-west program to solve the problem of imbalance between cocoon output and processing capability.
In early 2002, Tongfu village of Tongxiang carried 1.3 million small mulberry plants and 6.5 tonnes of Husang grafts to Yinchuan Farm of westnorth China’s Ningxia autonomous Region, expedited 21experts to transfer related technology and assist Yinchuan farmers to establish 1300mus of sericulture base.
Backed by guidance of government and assistance of policies, Tongxiang silk enterprises’ enthusiasm was greatly stimulated in going out. In 2003, the raw silk producing base jointly ventured by Tongxiang Huashen Silk Co., Ltd. and Uzbekistan was set up in Uzbekistan. Just in that year, Tongxiang side supplied 170000 pieces of silkworm seeds and correspondingly obtained over 200 tonnes of high-quality raw silk yarn. In 2004, Huashen Silk invested 6.5 thousand yuan in Xiangyun County of west China’s Yunnan province to set up Yinlong Cocoon & Silk Company with 20 sets of auto reeling machines. Currently, the base area under mulberry has reached 100000 mus. The company has purchased 1958 tonnes of fresh cocoons and its sales income has recorded six thousand yuan.
According to source, Tongxiang silk sector has set up 11 enterprises in Guizhou, Yunnan, Guangxi, Jiangxi and Anhui with the investment value reaching 0.4 billion Yuan and the sericulture base totaling 500000 mus.
