Survey on China’s real silk goods exports to India through Jan. to July, 2005
According to China Custom’s figures, real silk goods exports to India reached 0.234 billion US dollars, up 27.82 per cent.
1. Natural silk goods exports to India:
The volume and value of natural silk goods exports to India reached 6757 tons and 0.13 billion US dollars, up 0.96 per cent and 18.22 per cent respectively.
India was still the China’s largest exporting market, accounting for 42.05 per cent of total natural silk exports.
(1) Raw silk exports continued to see rapid growth. Raw silk exports to India in the first seven months of this year rose 4494.4 per cent to reach 0.04351 billion US dollars, accounting for 35.54 per cent of total natural silk goods exports to India.

(2) Exporting prices continued to go up to reach 19.2 US dollars per kg, up 7.1 per cent and higher than the average rate of exports to global markets.
2.Natural silk fabric exports to India:
Natural silk fabric exports to India reached 0.104 billion US dollars, up 42.25 per cent.
1.The major item of natural silk fabric exports to India was gray silk fabric.
Gray silk fabric exports rose 44.15 per cent to reach 0.09834 billion US dollars in the first even months of this year, accounting for 94.95 pr cent of total real silk fabric exports to India. Meanwhile, printed silk fabric exports only reached 5.14 million US dollars. India was still China’s largest exporting market for gray silk fabric.
2.Average price of gray silk fabric exports to India was 1.8 US dollar per meter, up 14.44 per cent. However, it was the lowest price seen in exports to global markets.
