Influenced by domestic and global markets, cocoon and silk imports restarted via Tuergate trading port of Xinjiang autonomous region after the pause of about six months. Statistics showed that from July to Oct. imported cocoon and silk yarn through Tuergate port reached 10 batches, 204 tons and 172000 US dollars, the volume almost same as the same period of last year. After inspected and quarantined, the imported silk yarn was all silk waste not carded or combed, the imported cocoons were all bale packed cocoons unsuitable for reeling mixed with a little pierced cocoons, while pest activity signs including Trogoderma variabile Ballion and other common warehouse pests were found in cargos, which were heat treated afterward.
