2005 China International Silk Fair was successfully held in Hangzhou from October 20 to October 23, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and Hangzhou Municipal government, cosponsored by National Silk Coordination Office, Chinese Silk Association Hangzhou, Hangzhou Municipal Economic Commission, Hangzhou Municipal Trade Bureau.
Wang Guoping, member of Zhejiang Standing Committee and Secretary of the Hangzhou municipal party committee, and Huang Hai, Assistant
Minister of Commerce and Director of National Silk Coordination Office, attended the inauguration and visited the exhibition hall. Heads of Department of Market Operation Regulation and Hangzhou Municipal Government were also present.
It is reported that the Fair attracted 52000 participants of all circles, which included 2000 foreign professional traders.
According to statistics, the members signed contracts with the total trading volume of 0.58 billion RMB yuan, including export volume of USD 53 million.
More than 120 silk enterprises joined the fair. It has become the most professional fair with highest level in the global silk sector.
