China: Natural silk exports to Japan up 14.86 pct in first three quarters

Natural silk exports to Japan recorded at 0.295 billion US dollars, rising by 14.86 per cent year-on-year and accounting for 10.62 per cent of total silk exports to the world, latest statistics from the Customs showed.
During Jan. to Sept. period, silk garment exports to Japan totaled at 0.141 billion US dollars, up 11.94 per cent. Its average price reached 13.46 US dollars per piece, much higher than the average export price to the world at 9.16 US dollars per piece.
Mulberry silk yarn export to Japan totaled at 56.20 million US dollars, up 33.34 per cent. Japan replaced Italy became the second largest importer of mulberry silk yarn.
Natural silk fabric export to Japan reached 28.17 million US dollars in value and 2.09 US dollars in average price, up 22.42 per cent and 6.68 per cent. Among them, gray fabric exports reached million US dollars and largely were low grade. So the average price only reached 2 US dollars, much lower than the price to the world.
