China:Silk product exports up 12.79 pct from Jan. to Nov. of 2005

Latest figures showed that China’s silk products exports rose by 12.79 pct in the first eleven months of 2005 to reach 7.777 billion US dollars and imports increased 0.2 pct to reach 2.113 US dollars resulting in a trade surplus of 5.664 billion US dollars. Among them, natural silk product exports and imports totaled respectively 3.412 billion US dollars and 0.163 billion US dollars, up 17.08 pct and 6.08 pct.

1.Natural silk exports kept stable growth and its average price continued to go up.
The volume and value of natural silk exports through Jan. to Nov. of this year reached 27,600 tons and 0.544 billion US dollars, up 10.18 pct and 25.42 pct respectively. Its average price rose by 13.84 pct to reach 19.73 US dollars per kg.
Its main exporting destination markets are India, Japan, Italy, Korea and Hongkong.

2.Synthetic silk fabric accounted for majority of silk fabric exports. The growth rate of natural silk fabric exports continued to drop and dropped from 27.68 pct of last month to 26.48 pct.
Silk fabric exports through Jan. to Nov. of this year totaled 5.028 billion US dollars, up 11.6 pct. Among them, synthetic silk fabric exports totaled 4.337 billion US dollars and accounted for 86.26 pct of total silk fabric exports, up 10 pct compared with same period of last year;Its price averaged at 0.77 US dollar per meter, down 0.3 pct. Its main exporting destination markets are AEB, Iran, Hongkong, the USA and Brail.
Natural silk fabric exports reached 0.663 billion US dollars, up 26.48 pct. Among them, gray fabric exports rose by 27.74 pct to reach 0.469 billion US dollars. Its price averaged at 2.2 US dollars per meter, up 8.79 pct. The main exporting destination markets are India, Italy, Korea, Hongkong and Japan.

3.Silk madeup exports rose by 12.71 pct to reach 2.204 billion US dollars. Silk garments accounted for majority of total silk madeup exports, neckties and scarves came next.
Silk garment exports through Jan. to Nov. rose by 8.9 pct to reach 1.748 US dollars and accounted for 79.31 pct of total silk madeup exports; Its price averaged at 9.26 US dollars per piece, up 5.51 pct; The main exporting destination markets are the USA, Japan, Hongkong, German and U.K. Silk neckties exports rose by 25.61 pct to reach 0.213 billion US dollars. Silk scarf exports rose by 33.27 pct to reach 79.8449 million US dollars.

4.The main silk products exporting destination markets are the USA, Hongkong, AEB, India, Japan, Italy, Iran and German. The exports to other markets rose steadily except to Iran, AEB and Hongkong, and the growth rate of exports to India and the USA even reached 26.96 pct and 26.89 pct.

5.Leading export provinces enjoyed rapid growth.
Exports of Zhejiang, Jaingsu, Shanghai, Guangdong and Shandong accounted for 89.53 pct of total silk product exports. The leading export provinces and municipalities still located in China’s costal region.
