China:Chongqing's silk commodities export situation in the first five months of this year

According to statistics of Chongqing Foreign Trade & Economic Relations Commission, Chongqing’s silk commodities export value decreased 36 per cent over those of the same period of the previous year to total 14.2345 million US dollars. Among them, volume and value of raw silk and silk yarn exports dropped by 57 per cent and 48 per cent respectively; volume and value of grey silk export dropped by 37 per cent and 6.1 per cent:Export value in May totalled 2.107 million US dollars and trade is not back to normal.
India government has imposed provisional anti-dumping duty on all imports of silk fabric weighing 20-100 grams per meter from China, considering the dumping margin which ranges from 57-115 per cent, depending on weight and variety of fabrics imposed. There is a wide price gap between market price and “non-injurious price”of India industry determined by DGAD. Currently, silk fabric to India has been restricted. Usually a new policy takes some time to absorb. But overall, the market will stabilize gradually.
