The industry veterans said that Indian men are scraping up their unwillingness to accept Lycra, a fabric well-liked overseas for its elasticity and comfort factor, however, it is highly considered as a fabric for women.

Lycra is a brand of Invista, usually called Spandex, was unaccepted by men's apparel sector in India as it was considered as feminine fabric, especially for lingerie line.

The fabric's retained its existence in India as women-bound garments for a long period, though it looks good, easy-to-style and comfortable.

The Marketing Manager of Fabrics Banswara Syntex Limited, Hemal Malaviya informed that avoidance is mainly attributed to the common thinking of males that Lyrca is a feminine fabric. In the Western countries it was unveiled initially in the men's apparel segment.

However, now days men have now begin to accept the fabric despite initial reservations, as a part of their masculine clothing selection.
