ALEXANDROUPOLIS: The Municipality of Soufli and the Association for the Regional Cooperation and Development (Haskovo, Bulgaria) have undertaken to materialize jointly the "Interreg III-Phare CBC Greece-Bulgaria" program on sericulture and silk industry.
A number of informative and promotion activities will take place within the framework of the program starting with an open for the public one-day conference to take place in Soufli on September 5.
Among the issues to be presented in the conference will be the evolution of the sectors of sericulture and silk industry through the centuries.
A reference will be made to the traditional methods used in Bulgaria as well as a presentation of the activities of the Sericulture Research Institute Harmanli, Bulgaria, while the prospects for the further development of sericulture and silk industry in the future will also be examined.
The program is materialized with the economic assistance of the European Union.
