KOLKATA: The Silk Mark Organisation of India (SMOI) on last Wednesday luanched the Silk Mark scheme, the quality assurance label conceived by the Central Silk Board.
Silk Mark Organisation CEO Vandana Kumar said the label signifies that a product to which it affixed is hundred per cent natural silk.
She said it is aimed at protecting the interests of consumers, manufacturers and traders of pure silk.
Silk Mark also aims at generic promotion of silk and building brand equity of both in the domestic and overseas markets.
India happens to be the second largest producer of silk after China.
