Since 2018, the U.S. has imposed a 10% import tariff on 25 Chinese silk products classified in 8-digit HS codes, including 1 cocoon, 7 silk filaments (actually containing 8 10-digit HS codes), and 17 silk fabrics (actually containing 37 10-digit HS codes).

1. U.S. import situation of silk products with imposed tariff from China in November

U.S. imported 882 thousand U.S. dollars of silk products with 10% imposed tariff from China in November, dropping 21.27% and 49.84% from the previous year and month respectively, the decline continuing to widen from the previous month. The marked share was 15.09%, shrinking by more than half from 32.7% in September. Details were as follows:

2. U.S. import situation of silk products with imposed tariff from China in Jan.-Nov.

From January to November, U.S. imported 16.3793 million U.S. dollars of silk products with 10% imposed tariff from China, a year-on-year increase of 75.96%, with a market share of 21.89%, ranking the first of the import sources. Among them:

Cocoon: zero imports from China.

Silk filament: imported from China amounted to 6.1922 million US dollars, an increase of 79.40% year on year, with a market share of 45.12%, ranking the first in the import sources of silk filament. The quantity was 164.90 tons, a decrease of 17.51% YOY, and a market share of 50.28%.

Silk fabrics:imported from China amounted to 10.1871 million US dollars, an increase of 74.10% year on year, and its market share was 16.67%, overtaken by Italy as the fourth source of imports. The quantity was 1.2986 million square meters, rising 66.96% from a year before.
