Transformed from Yunnan Baoshan Ligen Silk Co., Ltd., Baoshan Cathaya Silk Co.,Ltd. was jointly founded in April 2020 by Zhejiang Cathaya International Co., Ltd- a president unit of the International Silk Union, Yunnan Baoshan Ligen Silk Co., Ltd.- a national key leading enterprise of agricultural industrialization, and Zhejiang Misai Silk Co.,Ltd.- a country-famous century-old silk enterprise.
Baoshan Cathaya Silk Co.,Ltd. integrates sericulture, cocoon collection and silk reeling and implements the industrialized business mode of “company + cooperative + base + silkworm raiser”. In recent years, it has been recognized as “National Key Leading Enterprise of Agricultural Industrialization”, “National Leading Enterprise of Poverty Alleviation”, “Sericulture Base Construction Unit of Moving Mulberry Base from East to West Project of Ministry of Commerce”, “President Unit of Yunnan Cocoon & Silk Association”, “Yunnan Star Enterprise of Poverty Alleviation”, and “National Cocoon and Silk Industry Innovation Enterprise”.
So far, the company has built a high-quality sericulture base in Baoshan of nearly 6666 hectares, driving more than 10,000 households (nearly 50,000 people) to plant mulberry trees and raise silkworms. It has built up more than 100 standardized young silkworm co-breeding centers to fully promoted young silkworm co-breeding, heavily expanded the technology of checker cocooning frame application. Since 2020, it has introduced high-quality male silkworm varieties and totally raised up 20000 pieces, which has greatly improved the quality of cocoons; in 2021, it got the organic certification of sericulture base,and the annual output of organic cocoons reached 60 tons.
In order to build up steady system for high-quality silk production, the company has continuously increased the intensity of technical transformation of equipment in recent years, successively invested a lot of money to upgrade and transform the silk reeling machines, re-shake machines and water supply equipment, continuously improved the technique of high-quality silk production, and improved the quality awareness and operation skills of employees.
The company produces nearly 100 tons of high-quality raw silk every year, of which Grade 6A raw silk exceeds 50 tons. Its trademark has been recognized as Yunnan Famous Trademark, and raw silk
products as Yunnan Famous Brand Products. Baoshan Cathaya Silk Co.,Ltd. is making every effort to build Baoshan into a “High-end Cocoon and Silk Base in China”.
