1.Silk product trade in January

According to statistics from the United States Department of Commerce, the trade value of silk products in January was 568 million US dollars, rising 22.2% from the previous month and 19.76% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 505 million US dollars, going up 21.64% month-on-month and 17.88% year-on-year; the export value was 62.6874 million US dollars, increasing 26.94% and 37.34% from last month and year respectively. The specific product composition was as follows:

Import: The amount of silk filament was 1.3208 million US dollars, rising 5.69% month-on-month and 22.24% YOY, with its quantity dropping 7.94% from the previous month and growing 75.87% from the year earlier to 26.69 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 16.8432 million US dollars, growing 7.32% and dropping 22.02% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 487 million US dollars, jumping 22.25% from the previous month and 20% YOY.

Export: The amount of silk filament was 519 million US dollars, dropping 62.5% month-on-month and 16.98% YOY, with its quantity falling 55.56% month-on-month and 45.08% YOY to 1.16 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 14.2169 million US dollars, falling 2.02% and rising 1.3% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 48.4185 million US dollars, climbing 39.4% month-on-month and 53.47% YOY.

2.Silk product trade in January 

In January, the US’ silk trade value totaled 568 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 19.76%. Among them, the import value was 505 million US dollars, up 17.88% YOY; the export value was 62.6874 million US dollars, up 37.34% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:

Among the imported products, silk filament amounted to 1.3208 million US dollars, growing 22.24%, with its quantity jumping 75.87% to 26.69 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 16.8432 million US dollars, with a drop of 22.02%; Silk madeups amounted to 487 million US dollars, up 20% .

The major sources of imports were China (167 million US dollars, down 4.21%, accounting for 33.06%), Vietnam (34.346 million US dollars, up 50.19%, accounting for 6.8%), Nicaragua (31.1121 million US dollars, up 151.64%, accounting for 6.16%), India (29.9394 million US dollars, up 26.36%, accounting for 5.93%), Italy (29.9202 million US dollars, up 27.48%, accounting for 5.93%), . The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 57.88%.

Among the export products, silk filament amounted to 519 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 16.98%, with the quantity falling 45.08% to 1.16 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 14.2169 million US dollars, up 1.3% YOY; silk madeups amounted to 48.4185 million US dollars, an increase of 53.47% YOY.a

The major export markets were Mexico (21.4473 million US dollars, up 18.89%, accounting for 34.21%), Canada (10.0321 million US dollars, up 28.91%, accounting  16%), Chile (4.0244 million US dollars, up 771.8%, accounting for 6.42%), Dominican Republic (3.4508 million US dollars, up 157.15%, accounting for 5.5%), Bermuda (2.2028 million US dollars, net growth, accounting for 3.51%).
