According to statistics from the United States Department of Commerce, the trade value of silk products in February was 523 million US dollars, dropping 7.84% from the previous month and growing 1.55% from the same period last year. Import: The amount of silk filament was 1.4569 million US dollars, rising 10.31% month-on-month and 23.2% YOY, with its quantity jumping 6.78% from the previous month and dropping 62.79% from the year earlier to 28.5 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 13.7062 million US dollars, falling 18.62% and 33.91% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 448 million US dollars, down by 7.91% from the previous month and up by 3.14% YOY.
Export: The amount of silk filament was 232 million US dollars, decreasing 55.23% month-on-month and 46.6% YOY, with its quantity dropping 51.82% month-on-month and 14.96% YOY to 0.56 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 13.1286 million US dollars, falling 7.66% and 32.7% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 46.4923 million US dollars, dropping 3.98% month-on-month and jumping 19.24% YOY.
2. Silk product trade from January to February
From January to February, the US’ silk trade value totaled 1091 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 10.28%. Among them, the import value was 968 million US dollars, up 9.44% YOY; the export value was 122 million US dollars, up 17.42% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:
Among the imported products, silk filament amounted to 2.7777 million US dollars, growing 22.74%, with its quantity dropping 39.85% to 55.18 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 30.5494 million US dollars, with a drop of 27.84%; Silk madeups amounted to 935 million US dollars, up 11.28% .
The major sources of imports were China (276 million US dollars, down 18.31%, accounting for 28.55%), Vietnam (76.6457 million US dollars, up 41.24%, accounting for 7.92%), India (64.6423 million US dollars, up 35.23%, accounting for 6.68%), Italy (63.3277 million US dollars, up 20.22%, accounting for 6.54%), Nicaragua (49.4157 million US dollars, up 87.49%, accounting for 5.1%). The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 54.79%.
Among the export products, silk filament amounted to 752 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 29.14%, with the quantity falling 37.93% to 1.71 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 27.3455 million US dollars, down 18.47% YOY; silk madeups amounted to 94.9109 million US dollars, an increase of 34.55% YOY.
