The import and export situation of silk products in Jan.-Feb. .From January to February, the total import and export value of silk products was 298 million dollars, down 9.2%, accounting for 0.66% of China’s total textile and apparel imports and exports.The export value of pure silk products was 247 million US dollars , a year-on-year decrease of 6.58%, accounting for 0.59% of China's textile and apparel exports. During the same period, the export value of textile and apparel decreased by 18.37%.1.2 Export product structureAmong the three categories, export of silk filament showed an increase in the first two months of 2023 compared with last year, silk fabrics decreased 20.5% and silk madeups also showed a decreased. From January to February, the export value of silk filament was 70 million dollars, jumping 18.18%, accounting for 28.42%, and the quantity of which was 12.3463 tons, growing 12.75%, with its export unit price of 56.83 dollars/kilo, up 4.83%; silk fabrics amounted to 66 million dollars, dropping 20.52%, accounting for 26.81%, with its export unit price of 6.22 dollars/meter, growing 6.51%; the export of silk madeups totaled 111 million dollars, falling 9.11%, accounting for 44.78%.Except for the increase to India, exports of silk products to other major markets generally declined year-on-year, among which the EU market fell by 9.4%. The top five export markets in order were: the EU (70.0167 million US dollars, down 9.4%, accounting for 28.36%), the US (45.1675 million US dollars, down 3.35%, accounting for 18.29%), India (21.3951 million US dollars, up 48.79%, accounting for 8.67%), Japan (15.6636 million US dollars, down 12.86%, accounting for 6.34%), Hong Kong, China (12.8281 million US dollars, down 10.62%, accounting for 5.20%).1.3.1 Export situation of Silk filamentIn the main export markets of silk filament, except for the decline in exports to Japan, exports to other markets maintained growth, among which exports to India continued to maintain a rapid growth trend. The top five export markets in order were: the EU (28.8824 million US dollars, up 13.66%, accounting for 41.17%), India (16.0497 million US dollars, up 101.26%, accounting for 22.88%), Vietnam (7.6035 million US dollars, up 36.02%, accounting for 10.84%), Japan (6.497 million US dollars, down 5.44%, accounting for 9.26%), the US (2.243 million US dollars, up 1.76%, accounting for 3.2%).1.3.2 Export situation of Silk fabrics
Except for the increase in exports to Turkey and Hong Kong, exports of silk fabrics to other major markets decreased year-on-year, among which exports to the European Union fell by 33.3%. The top five export markets in order were: the EU (16.5593 million US dollars, down 33.32%, accounting for 25.02%), Pakistan (11.2763 million US dollars, down 15.17%, accounting for 17.04%), Sri Lanka (5.6843 million US dollars, down 13.04%, accounting for 8.59%), India (5.1456 million US dollars, down 18.09%, accounting for 7.77%), Turkey (3.7586 million US dollars, up 71.86%, accounting for 5.68%).
1.3.3 Export situation of silk madeupsExports of silk madeups to major export markets generally declined year-on-year, with only exports to Australia showing a significant year-on-year increase. The top five export markets in order were: the US (41.7401 million US dollars, down 4.22%, accounting for 37.76%), the EU (24.575 million US dollars, down 9.1%, accounting for 22.23%), Hong Kong, China (9.1108 million US dollars, down 21.27%, accounting for 8.24%), Australia (7.7543 million US dollars, up 21.29%, accounting for 7.01%), Japan (7.3312 million US dollars, down 12.33%, accounting for 6.63%).1.4 Export situation of provinces and municipalitiesThe export situation of major provinces and municipalities of silk products were mixed. Rankings were stable. The top five in order were: Zhejiang (87.1689 million US dollars, down 15.88%, accounting for 35.31%), Jiangsu (44.3829 million US dollars, down 5.29%, accounting for 17.98%), Guangdong (26.71 million US dollars, up 13.73%, accounting for 10.82%), Shanghai (20.2626 million US dollars, up 1.39%, accounting for 8.21%), Shandong (17.4987 million US dollars, down 11.04%, accounting for 7.09%). The five provinces and municipalities above accounted for 79.41% of the total.From January to February, the import value of silk products was 51.1724 million US dollars, down 20.05% year-on-year, accounting for 1.68% of the total textile and apparel imports which fell by 24.63% in the same period.Among the three categories of silk in imports, silk fabrics accounting for the smallest proportion showed an increase YOY, and silk filament and silk madeups both showed a sharp decline YOY. The import value of silk filament was 6.4927 million dollars, dropping 36.39%, accounting for 12.69%, the quantity of which amounted to 643.99 tons, dropping 47.56%, and the unit price of which jumped by 21.3% to 10.08 dollars/kilo; the import of pure silk fabrics was 2.8064 million dollars, increasing 8.26% YOY, accounting for 5.48%, and the unit price of which jumped 6.38% to 13.84 dollars/meter; Imports of silk madeups fell 18.23% to 41.8732 million dollars, accounting for 81.83%.2.2 Import situation of sourcesChina's imports from the EU fell by 18.2% year-on-year, from Uzbekistan and Morocco surged, and from North Korea fell significantly to seventh in the ranking. The top five import sources in order were: the EU (39.5138 million US dollars, down 18.20%, accounting for 77.22%), India (3.1392 million US dollars, up 12.47%, accounting for 6.13%), China (2.5978 million US dollars, down 19.21%, accounting for 5.08%), Uzbekistan (1.9669 million US dollars, up 162.26%, accounting for 3.84%), Japan (0.835 million US dollars, up 86.99%, accounting for 1.3%).2.3 Import situation of provinces and municipalitiesAmong the major provinces and municipalities of silk imports, Zhejiang increased significantly year-on-year, with an increase of 59.2%, and Shanghai decreased by 18.6% year-on-year. The details were as follows: Shanghai (39.1986 million US dollars, down 18.58%, accounting for 76.6%), Zhejiang (4.801 million US dollars, up 59.24%, accounting for 9.38%), Guangdong (1.6709 million US dollars, up 10.57%, accounting for 3.27%), Beijing (1.0356 million US dollars, up 13.96%, accounting for 2.02%), Hainan (0.7429 million US dollars, down 31.85%, accounting for 1.45%). The five provinces and municipalities above accounted for 92.72% of the total.
