2. The import and export situation of silk products in Jan.-Mar. 2023From January to March, the total import and export value of silk products was 461 million dollars, down 3.5%, accounting for 0.62% of China’s total textile and apparel imports and exports.The export value of pure silk products was 381 million US dollars , a year-on-year decrease of 0.08%, accounting for 0.55% of China's textile and apparel exports. During the same period, the export value of textile and apparel decreased by 6.72%.2.1.1 Export product structureAmong the three categories, export of silk fabrics showed a decrease in the first three months of 2023 compared with last year, both silk filament and silk madeups increased. From January to March, the export value of silk filament was 110 million dollars, jumping 14.95%, accounting for 28.75%, and the quantity of which was 1926.68 tons, growing 11.53%, with its export unit price of 56.86 dollars/kilo, up 3.06%; silk fabrics amounted to 102 million dollars, dropping 16.63%, accounting for 26.79%, with its export unit price of 6.57 dollars/meter, growing 9.14%; the export of silk madeups totaled 169 million dollars, jumping 3.55%, accounting for 44.45%.2.1.2 Major export marketsThe export of silk products to the European and American markets stopped falling and turned up, to India narrowed in growth rate significantly, and to Japan continued to decline. The top five export markets in order were: the EU (111 million US dollars, up 3.76%, accounting for 29.11%), the US (66.887 million US dollars, up 5.68%, accounting for 17.56%), India (31.1733 million US dollars, up 11.29%, accounting for 8.18%), Japan (23.6898 million US dollars, down 12.79%, accounting for 6.22%), Hong Kong, China (18.2564 million US dollars, up 0.9%, accounting for 4.79%).
2.1.3 Export situation of Silk filament
In the main export markets of silk filament, except for the decline to Japan and South Korea markets, exports to other markets maintained growth, among which exports to the EU increased significantly, and exports to India continued to narrow. The top five export markets in order were: the EU (47.6154 million US dollars, up 39.7%, accounting for 43.47%), India (21.7684 million US dollars, up 16.75%, accounting for 19.87%), Vietnam (11.9811 million US dollars, up 13.64%, accounting for 10.94%), Japan (10.3989 million US dollars, down 11.73%, accounting for 9.49%), the US (3.2158 million US dollars, up 13.82%, accounting for 2.94%).2.1.4 Export situation of Silk fabricsIn the main export markets of silk fabrics, except for the increase to Turkey and Hong Kong markets, exports to other major markets continued to decline year-on-year. The top five export markets in order were: the EU (25.7575 million US dollars, down 28.96%, accounting for 25.23%), Pakistan (14.1339 million US dollars, down 33.94%, accounting for 13.84%), India (8.915 million US dollars, down 2.45%, accounting for 8.73%), Sri Lanka (8.8454 million US dollars, down 4.52%, accounting for 8.66%), Korea (5.5858 million US dollars, down 4.25%, accounting for 5.47%).2.1.5 Export situation of silk madeupsExports of silk madeups to European and American markets turned to an increase, and exports to Australia continued to expand. The top five export markets in order were: the US (61.7823 million US dollars, up 5.42%, accounting for 36.48%), the EU (37.5378 million US dollars, up 2.7%, accounting for 22.16%), Hong Kong, China (13.2554 million US dollars, down 13.2%, accounting for 7.83%), Australia (11.9549 million US dollars, up 37.68%, accounting for 7.06%), Japan (10.5291 million US dollars, down 11.22%, accounting for 6.22%).2.1.6 Export situation of provinces and municipalitiesThe export of silk products from major provinces and municipalities were mixed, with stable rankings. The top five in order were: Zhejiang (132 million US dollars, down 8.94%, accounting for 34.58%), Jiangsu (68.3021 million US dollars, down 0.13%, accounting for 17.93%), Guangdong (41.319 million US dollars, up 23.06%, accounting for 10.84%), Shanghai (32.983 million US dollars, up 15.64%, accounting for 8.66%), Shandong (28.0139 million US dollars, down 9.47%, accounting for 7.35%). The five provinces and municipalities above accounted for 79.36% of the total.From January to March, the import value of silk products was 79.8254 million US dollars, down 17.05% year-on-year, accounting for 1.62% of the total textile and apparel imports which fell by 20.46% in the same period.The three major categories of imports still maintained the trend of increase in silk fabrics and decline in silk filament and silk madeups, but the decline was significantly narrowed. The import value of silk filament was 11.3116 million dollars, dropping 12.21%, accounting for 14.17%, the quantity of which amounted to 1148.19 tons, dropping 21.93%, and the unit price of which jumped by 12.44% to 9.85 dollars/kilo; the import of pure silk fabrics was 4.023 million dollars, increasing 6.52% YOY, accounting for 5.04%, and the unit price of which dropped 17.88% to 11.8 dollars/meter; Imports of silk madeups fell 18.95% to 64.4909 million dollars, accounting for 80.79%.2.2.2 Import situation of sources
China's imports from the EU continued to decline sharply year-on-year, imports from Uzbekistan and Morocco continued to surge, and North Korea rose to fifth. The top five import sources in order were: the EU (60.3817 million US dollars, down 19.30%, accounting for 75.64%), India (4.9753 million US dollars, up 26.11%, accounting for 6.23%), China (3.8407 million US dollars, down 18.17%, accounting for 4.81%), Uzbekistan (3.6767 million US dollars, up 116.98%, accounting for 4.61%), Korea (1.3323 million US dollars, down 77.68%, accounting for 1.67%).
2.2.3 Import situation of provinces and municipalitiesAmong the main provinces and municipalities of the silk imports, Zhejiang continued to maintain a high growth rate, and Shaanxi Province's import rose to fifth. The details were as follows: Shanghai (59.7426 million US dollars, down 19.78%, accounting for 74.84%), Zhejiang (8.0099 million US dollars, up 68.96%, accounting for 10.03%), Guangdong (2.9647 million US dollars, up 20.01%, accounting for 3.71%), Beijing (1.6677 million US dollars, down 8.08%, accounting for 2.09%), Shaanxi (1.3232 million US dollars, up 5920.34%, accounting for 1.66%). The five provinces and municipalities above accounted for 92.33% of the total.
