1.Silk products trade in March
According to statistics from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India, the trade value of silk products in March was 358 million US dollars, growing 12.68% from the previous month and 2.46% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 38.97 million US dollars, going down 7.65% month-on-month and 0.84% year-on-year; the export value was 319 million US dollars, growing 15.8% on a monthly basis and 2.87% from the year earlier. The specific product composition was as follows:
Import: The amount of silk filament was 13.6 million US dollars, rising 19.61% month-on-month and 10.03% YOY, with its quantity jumping 0.19% from the previous month and 13.86% from the year earlier to 234.34 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 11.56 million US dollars, growing 13.44% and falling 18.36% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 13.81 million US dollars, falling 33.09% from the previous month and growing 8.06% YOY.
Export: The amount of silk filament was 2.41 million US dollars, increasing 35.39% month-on-month and 10.55% YOY, with its quantity growing 57.71% month-on-month and falling 17.08% YOY to 229.95 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 19.48 million US dollars, growing 36.99% and dropping 21.99% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 297 million US dollars, growing 14.51% month-on-month and 5.01% YOY.
2.Silk products trade from January to March
From January to March, the India's silk trade value totaled 1003 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 2.46%. Among them, the import value was 124 millionUS dollars, down 1.46% YOY; the export value was 879 million US dollars, up by 3.04% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:
Among the imported products, silk filament amounted to 39.59 million US dollars, dropping 1.59%, with its quantity jumping 5.74% to 742.96 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 36.22 million US dollars, with a drop of 24.62%; Silk madeups amounted to 48.42 million US dollars, up 28.13%.
The major sources of imports were China (49.58 million US dollars, down 7.6%, accounting for 39.91%), Vietnam (26.99 million US dollars, down 4.19%, accounting for 21.73%), Bangladesh (15.39 million US dollars, up 92.13%, accounting for 12.39%), U.A.E (8.57 million US dollars, up 33.49%, accounting for 6.9%), Sri Lanka (5.4 million US dollars, down 19.4%, accounting for 4.35%). The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 85.28%.
Among the export products, silk filament amounted to 6.93 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 68.61%, with the quantity jumping 20.54% to 603.39 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 47.92 million US dollars, down 23.24% YOY; silk madeups amounted to 824 million US dollars, an increase of 4.79% YOY.
The major export markets were the US (371 million US dollars, up 3.96%, accounting for 42.17%), U.A.E (58.76 million US dollars, up 1.98%, accounting for 6.69%), the UK (57.88 million US dollars, up 26.82%, accounting for 6.59%), Germany (34.8 million US dollars, down 8.54%, accounting for 3.96%), Spain (29.57 million US dollars, up 0.31%, accounting for 3.36%). The five markets above accounted for 62.77% of the total.
