Silk product trade in AprilAccording to statistics from the United States Department of Commerce, the trade value of silk products in April was 473 million US dollars, dropping 11.07% from the previous month and 22.86% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 413 million US dollars, dropping 11.26% month-on-month and 24.58% year-on-year; the export value was 59.4137 million US dollars, decreasing 9.75% on a monthly basis and 8.34% from the year earlier. Import: The amount of silk filament was 0.6771 million US dollars, falling 54.19% month-on-month and jumping 34.64% YOY, with its quantity falling 66.59% from the previous month and jumping 22.72% from the year earlier to 10.45 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 19.2417 million US dollars, growing 12.33% and falling 10.34% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 393 million US dollars, dropping 12.02% from the previous month and 25.22% YOY.
Export: The amount of silk filament was 0.4923 million US dollars, surging 555.09% month-on-month and 2617.42% YOY, with its quantity shooting up 1065.83% month-on-month and 6032.03% YOY to 17.23 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 16.5824 million US dollars, falling 3.83% and 8.62% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 42.3391 million US dollars, dropping 12.73% month-on-month and 9.26% YOY.
2. Silk product trade from January to April
From January to April, the US’ silk trade value totaled 2095 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 7.59%. Among them, the import value was 1847 million US dollars, down 8.71% YOY; the export value was 248 million US dollars, up 1.77% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:Among the imported products, silk filament amounted to 4.9327 million US dollars, growing 27.17%, with its quantity dropping 21.5% to 96.9 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 66.9211 million US dollars, with a drop of 21.2%; Silk madeups amounted to 1775 million US dollars, down 8.24% .The major sources of imports were China (276 million US dollars, down 18.31%, accounting for 28.55%), Vietnam (149 million US dollars, up 1.11%, accounting for 8.08%), India (137 million US dollars, up 10.95%, accounting for 7.43%), Italy (131 million US dollars, up 12.51%, accounting for 7.09%), Nicaragua (86.2487 million US dollars, up 29.37%, accounting for 4.67%).
