1. Silk product trade in June
According to statistics from the United States Department of Commerce, the trade value of silk products in June was 437 million US dollars, dropping 8.3% from the previous month and 21.2% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 375 million US dollars, dropping 7.79% month-on-month and 23.09% year-on-year; the export value was 62.2387 million US dollars, decreasing 11.25% on a monthly basis and 7.53% from the year earlier. The specific product composition was as follows:
Import: The amount of silk filament was 1.6399 million US dollars, growing 68.16% month-on-month and 12.04% YOY, with its quantity jumping 30.78% from the previous month and falling 15.52% from the year earlier to 25.18 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 16.1231 million US dollars, dropping 14.21% and 25.49% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 357 million US dollars, dropping 7.67% from the previous month and 23.09% YOY.
Export: The amount of silk filament was 0.209 million US dollars, dropping 77.47% month-on-month and jumping 0.72% YOY, with its quantity growing 1.69% month-on-month and 12.45% YOY to 4.64 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 15.4738 million US dollars, dropping 29.82% and 2.07% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 46.5559 million US dollars, dropping 1.26% month-on-month and 9.25% YOY.
2. Silk product trade from January to JuneFrom January to June, the US’ silk trade value totaled 3008 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 11.76%. Among them, the import value was 2628 million US dollars, down 13.17% YOY; the export value was 380 million US dollars, down 0.58% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:Among the imported products, silk filament amounted to 7.5478 million US dollars, growing 13.58%, with its quantity dropping 19.89% to 141.34 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 102 million US dollars, with a drop of 21.69%; Silk madeups amounted to 2519 million US dollars, down 12.85% .The major sources of imports were China (720 million US dollars, down 26.48%, accounting for 27.41%), Vietnam (193 million US dollars, down 6.3%, accounting for 7.34%), India (191 million US dollars, down 2.1%, accounting for 7.28%), Italy (189 million US dollars, up 7.05%, accounting for 7.17%), Nicaragua (122 million US dollars, up 5.03%, accounting for 4.66%).
