1. Silk Imports from China to the US in June

According to the statistics of the U.S. Department of Commerce, the import value of silk products from China in June was 122 million US dollars, falling 31.42% year on year and growing 0.69% month on month, accounting for 32.53% of global imports, a slight drop from the previous month, with year-on-year expanding decline and  continuously increasing proportion.

The details were as follows:
Silk filament: The imported amount from China reached 928.9 thousand US dollars, rising 41.75% and 174.27% from the previous year and month respectively, accounting for 56.64% of the market share, ranking first in the sources of imports. The import quantity was 15.54 tons, dropping 22.45% and growing 27.31% from the previous year and month respectively, with market share of 61.71%.
Silk fabrics: The imported amount from China reached 3.1593 million US dollars, dropping 35.96% and 18.77% from the previous year and month respectively, with a market share of 19.59%, ranking second in the sources of imports, with a slight drop in proportion.
Silk madeups: The imported amount from China reached 118 million US dollars, dropping 31.57% and jumping 0.84% from the previous year and month respectively, accounting for 33.01% of its market share.
2. Silk Imports from China to the US in Jan.-Jun.
From January to June, the U.S. imported US$720 million worth of silk products from China, a year-on-year decrease of 26.48%, accounting for 27.41% of the global imports. Among them:
Silk filament: The imported amount from China reached 2.8813 million US dollars, up 16.41% year on year, with a market share of 38.17%, ranking first in the import sources of silk filament. The import quantity was 73.12 tons, an increase of 17.09% from the previous year with a marked share of 51.73%.
Silk fabrics: The imported amount from China reached 19.1063 million US dollars, down 34.26% from a year ago, with a marked share of 18.76%, ranking second in the import sources of silk fabrics.
Silk madeups: The imported amount from China reached 699 million US dollars, down 26.35% from a year ago, with a marked share of 27.73%, ranking first in import sources of silk madeups.
3. Import Situation of Silk Products with 10% imposed tariff from China to the US
Since 2018, the U.S. has imposed a 10% import tariff on 25 Chinese silk products classified in 8-digit HS codes, including 1 cocoon, 7 silk filaments (containing a total of 8 10-digit HS codes), and 17 silk fabrics (containing a total of 37 10-digit HS codes).
3.1 Import Situation of Silk Products with 10% imposed tariff from China to the US in June
In June, imports from China to the US of silk products with a 10 % tariff were US $1.516 million, down 1.52% year on year, and up 182.31% month on month. The market share stood at 25.57%, which was the first significant increase in share since the beginning of the year.
The details were as follows:
Cocoon: zero imports from China.
Silk filament: The imported amount from China reached 928.9 thousand US dollars, jumping 41.75% and 174.27% from the previous year and month respectively, accounting for 56.64% of the market share, ranking first in the sources of imports. The import quantity was 15.54 tons, dropping 22.45% and growing 27.31% from the previous year and month respectively, with a market share of 61.71%.
Silk fabrics: The imported amount from China reached 587.1 thousand US dollars, falling 33.6% and rising 196.04% from the previous year and month respectively, accounting for 13.69% of the marked share. The quantity was 79.5 thousand square meters, a drop of 29.19% from a year ago.
3.2 Import Situation of Silk Products with 10% imposed tariff from China to the US in Jan.-Jun.
From January to June, the US imported US $6.017 million worth of silk products with 10% imposed tariff from China, a year-on-year decrease of 21.57%, with a market share of 17.65%, ranking third in import sources.  Among them:
Cocoon: zero imports from China.
Silk filament: The imported amount from China reached 2.8813 million US dollars, an increase of 16.41% year on year, a market share of 38.17%, ranking first in the import sources of silk filament. The quantity was 73.12 tons, an increase of 17.09% YOY, with a market share of 51.73%.

Silk fabrics: The imported amount from China reached 3.1357 million US dollars, a decrease of 39.65% year on year, and its market share was 11.81%, ranking fourth in the import sources. The quantity was 0.4082 million square meters, falling 31.7% from a year before.
