1. Silk product trade in June
According to statistics from Eurostat, the trade value of silk products in June was 229 million US dollars, dropping 52.59% from the previous month and 47.36% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 59.3163 million US dollars, dropping 64.43% month-on-month and 59.09% year-on-year; the export value was 170 million US dollars, dropping 46.37% on a monthly basis and 41.51% from the year earlier. Details were as follows:
Import:The amount of silk filament was 6.8952 million US dollars, dropping 67.14% month-on-month and 48.83% YOY, with its quantity falling 65.84% from the previous month and 49.53% from the year earlier to 110.25 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 20.1613 million US dollars, dropping 42.49% and 37.47% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 32.2599 million US dollars, falling 70.86% from the previous month and 67.51% YOY.
Export: The amount of silk filament was 1.7504 million US dollars, decreasing 78.08% month-on-month and 70.28% YOY, with its quantity sliding 80.57% month-on-month and 80.15% YOY to 20.329 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 30.4121 million US dollars, falling 58.49% and 56.41% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 138 million US dollars, dropping 41.53% month-on-month and 37.56% YOY.
From January to June, Italy’s silk trade value totaled 2703 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 2.8%. Among them, the import value was 879 million US dollars, down 4.55% YOY; the export value was 1824 million US dollars, down 1.93% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:
Among the imported products, silk filament amounted to 109 million US dollars, growing 17.93%, with its quantity jumping 6.69% to 1588.643 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 171 million US dollars, with a drop of 25.57%; the amount of silk madeups went up 0.04% to 599 million US dollars.
The major sources of imports were China (189 million US dollars, down 18.02% , accounting for 21.52%), Romania (85.5284 million US dollars, up 11.47%, accounting for 9.73%), France (72.3263 million US dollars, down 13.82% , accounting for 8.23%), Turkey (60.7173 million US dollars, down 21.88%, accounting for 6.91%), Spain (47.3121 million US dollars, down 15.72%, accounting for 5.38%). The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 51.77%.
Among the export products, silk filament amounted to 41.525 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 16.23%, with the quantity falling 2.11% to 551.586 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 370 million US dollars, down 14.23% YOY; the amount of silk madeups went up 1.41% to 1413 million US dollars.
The major export markets were France (217 million US dollars, down 7.39%, accounting for 11.9%), the United States (178 million US dollars, up 1.91%, accounting for 9.75%), Switzerland (118 million US dollars, down 0.61%, accounting for 6.48%), Germany (117 million US dollars, down 6.09%, accounting for 6.43%), Hong Kong, China (90.3867 million US dollars, down 4.15%, accounting for 4.96%). The five markets above accounted for 39.52% of the total.
